Volkhov River is acknowledged as one of the best fishing areas in the north-west of the European part of Russia. A wide range of various fish lives in its waters, from which especially notable are vimba, salmon, zander and catfish. Catfish of huge size can be found here: according to local anglers' evidence, here it is not uncommon to see real giants of the size of a boat. On the banks of this wide, deep river there are cozy fishing bases with excellent shops and a boat rental.
